Slovakia - Wooden Churches of the Slovak Part of the Carpathian Mountain Area

The Wooden Churches consist of two Roman Catholic, three Protestant and three Greek Orthodox churches built between the 16th and 18th centuries in small, poor villages in an area formerly known as Upland Hungary. The property presents good examples of a rich local tradition of religious architecture, marked by the meeting of Latin and Byzantine cultures. The edifices exhibit some typological variations in their floor plans, interior spaces and external appearance due to their respective religious practices. They bear testimony to the development of major architectural and artistic trends during the period of construction and to their interpretation and adaptation to a specific geographical and cultural context. Interiors are decorated with paintings on the walls and ceilings and other works of art that enrich the cultural significance of the properties.

Slovaquie - Eglises en bois de la partie slovaque de la zone des Carpates

Les eglises en bois comprennent deux eglises catholiques romaines, trois protestantes et trois grecques orthodoxes construites entre le XVIeme et le XVIIIeme siecle dans des petits villages pauvres d'une region anciennement appelee la Haute Hongrie. Ces edifices en bois sont un bon exemple d'une riche tradition locale d'architecture religieuse, marquee par la rencontre entre les cultures byzantine et latine. Les edifices presentent des differences typologiques dans leurs plans, leurs espaces interieurs et leur apparence exterieure en fonction des differentes pratiques religieuses. Ils temoignent aussi du developpement des courants artistiques et architecturaux pendant la periode de construction ainsi que de leur interpretation et adaptation a un contexte geographique et culturel particulier. L'interieur des eglises est orne de peintures sur les murs et les plafonds et abrite des oeuvres d'art qui enrichissent la valeur culturelle des biens.

Eslovaquia - Iglesias de madera de la parte eslovaca de los Cárpatos

Este sitio inscrito en la Lista del Patrimonio Mundial comprende dos iglesias catolicas romanas, tres iglesias protestantes y tres iglesias ortodoxas griegas, que fueron erigidas entre los siglos XVI y XVIII en aldeas pobres de una region conocida antano por el nombre de Alta Hungria. Construidos en madera, los templos de este sitio son una excelente muestra de la riqueza de la arquitectura religiosa local, marcada por la impronta del encuentro entre la cultura bizantina y la latina. Estas iglesias presentan diferencias tipologicas en su planta, espacio interior y aspecto exterior, que se deben a la diversidad de las practicas religiosas. Ademas, atestiguan la evolucion de las principales corrientes arquitectonicas y artisticas predominantes en el periodo de su construccion, asi como la interpretacion y adaptacion de las mismas a un contexto geografico y cultural especifico. Las paredes y techumbres de su interior estan ornamentadas con pinturas y todas ellas poseen obras de arte que enriquecen su valor cultural.

Die Holzkirchen umfassen zwei romisch-katholischen, drei protestantischen und drei griechisch-orthodox Kirchen, die zwischen den 16ten und 18ten Jahrhunderten in kleinen armen Dorfern in einem fruher Hochungarn genannten Gebiet  gebaut worden sind. Diese Gebaude aus Holz sind ein gutes Muster einer reichen lokalen Tradition religioser Architektur, die von dem Kontakt zwischen den byzantinischen und lateinischen Kulturen gepragt worden ist. Die Denkmaler zeigen typologische Unterschiede in ihren Planen, ihren inneren Raumen und ihrem Aussenanschein gemass den verschiedenen religiosen Praktiken. Sie zeigen auch die Entwicklung der kunstlerischen und architektonischen Bewegungen wahrend der Zeit des Baus sowie ihre Interpretation und ihre Anpassung an einen besonderen geographischen und kulturellen Zusammenhang. Das Innere der Kirchen ist mit Malereien auf den Mauern und Decken geschmuckt und enthalt Kunstwerke, die den kulturellen Wert der Statte anreichern.
