Turkey - Bursa and Cumalıkızık, the Birth of the Ottoman Empire

Bursa and Cumalıkızık is a serial nomination of eight component sites in the City of Bursa and the nearby village of Cumalıkızık, in the southern Marmara Region. The site illustrates the creation of an urban and rural system establishing the Ottoman Empire in the early 14th century. The property illustrates key functions of the social and economic organization of the new capital which evolved around a new civic centre. These include commercial districts of khans, kulliyes (religious institutions) integrating mosques, religious schools, public baths and a kitchen for the poor as well as the tomb of Orhan Ghazi, the founder of the Ottoman dynasty. One component outside the historic centre of Bursa is the village of Cumalıkızık, the only rural village of this system to show the provision of hinterland support for the capital.

Bursa et Cumalıkızık est une inscription en serie de huit sites se trouvant dans la ville de Bursa (ou Brousse), dans le sud de la region de Marmara. Le site illustre la creation d'un systeme urbain rural fondateur de l'Empire ottoman au debut du XIVe siecle. Le bien illustre les fonctions principales de l'organisation sociale et economique de la nouvelle capitale qui se developpa autour d'un nouveau centre civique. Ces elements comprennent des quartiers commerciaux de khans, des kulliyes (institutions religieuses) qui englobent des mosquees, des ecoles religieuses, des bains publics et une cuisine pour les pauvres ainsi que le tombeau d'Ohran Ghazi, le fondateur de la dynastie ottomane. Un element situe en dehors du centre historique de Bursa, le village de Cumalıkızık, le seul village rural de ce systeme, est destine a montrer le soutien apporte par l'arriere-pays a la capitale.

Bursa y Cumalıkızık es una inscripcion en serie de ocho sitios que se encuentran en la ciudad de Bursa, al sur de la region de Marmara. El sitio ilustra la creacion de un sistema urbano rural fundador del imperio otomano a principios del siglo XIV y las funciones principales de la organizacion social y economica de la nueva capital que se desarrollo alrededor de un nuevo centro civico. Estos elementos comprenden barrios comerciales de khans, kulliyes (instituciones religiosas) que engloban mezquitas, escuelas religiosas, banos publicos y una cocina para los pobres, asi como la tumba de Ohran Ghazi, fundador de la dinastia otomana. Un elemento situado fuera del centro historico de Bursa, Cumalıkızık, unico pueblo rural de este sistema, demuestra el apoyo que aportaban los suburbios a la capital.

Bursa und Cumalıkızık ist eine Statte mit acht Denkmalensemblen  in der Stadt Bursa im Suden der Marmara-Gegend. Die Statte illustriert die Begrundung eines landlichen Stadtsystems, das das osmanische Reich am Anfang des 14ten Jahrhunderts erschaffen hat.  Die Statte zeigt die Hauptfunktionen der gesellschaftlichen und wirtschaftlichen Organisation der neuen Hauptstadt, die sich um ein neues Stadtzentrum entwickelt hat. Diese Denkmaler umfassen Handelsviertel mit Khans, Kulliyes (religiose Institute) mit Moscheen, Konfessionsschulen, Badern und einer Kuche fur arme Leute, sowie das Grabstatt von Ohran Ghazi, dem Grunder der osmanischen Dynastie. Eine Statte ausserhalb des Stadtzentrums Bursa, das Dorf Cumalıkızık, das einzige Dorf dieses Ensembles, zeigt die Unterstutzung des Hinterlands fur die Hauptstadt.
