China - Ancient Building Complex in the Wudang Mountains

The palaces and temples which form the nucleus of this group of secular and religious buildings exemplify the architectural and artistic achievements of China's Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties. Situated in the scenic valleys and on the slopes of the Wudang mountains in Hubei Province, the site, which was built as an organized complex during the Ming dynasty (14th-17th centuries), contains Taoist buildings from as early as the 7th century. It represents the highest standards of Chinese art and architecture over a period of nearly 1,000 years.

Les palais et temples qui constituent le noyau de ce complexe de batiments seculaires et religieux forment une realisation architecturale et artistique exemplaire de l'epoque des dynasties chinoises des Yuan, Ming et Qing. Les flancs des montagnes de Wudang (province de Hubei) et leurs vallees panoramiques abritent ce site qui fut construit en tant qu'ensemble organise pendant la dynastie des Ming (XIVe - XVIIe siecle) et qui comporte egalement des batiments taoistes datant du VIIe siecle. L'ensemble represente l'apogee de l'architecture et de l'art chinois sur une periode d'environ un millenaire.

Los palacios y templos que forman el nucleo de este conjunto de edificios civiles y religiosos son un ejemplo excepcional de las realizaciones arquitectonicas y artisticas de la dinastias Yuan, Ming et Qing. Las laderas de las montanas de Wudang (provincia du Hubei) y sus valles panoramicos forman el paisaje circundante del sitio, que posee antiguas edificaciones taoistas del siglo VII y fue estructurado como conjunto monumental en tiempos de la dinastia Ming (siglos XIV a XVII). Los edificios antiguos de Wudang son representativos del alto grado de perfeccion de la arquitectura y las artes chinas a lo largo de un milenio.

Die Palaste und Tempel, die das Kern dieses Komplexes weltlicher und religioser Bauwerke bilden, sind eine vorbindliche kunstlerische Architekturausfuhrung des Zeitalters der chinesischen Dynastien Yuan, Ming und Qing. Die Abhange des Wudanggebirges (Provinz Hubei) und seine Taler schliessen diese Statte ein, die als ein organisiertes Komplex in der Mingdynastie (14ten bis zum 17ten Jahrhundert) gebaut wurde und die auch taoistische Bauwerke aus dem 7ten Jahrhundert enthalt. Dieses Komplex stellt den Hohepunkt der chinesischen Kunst und Architektur auf einer etwa tausend Jahre langen Periode dar.
