Located
on the Danube river in Bavaria, this medieval town contains many buildings of
exceptional quality that testify to its history as a trading centre and to
its influence on the region as of the 9th century. It has preserved a notable
number of historic structures spanning some two millennia, including ancient
Roman, Romanesque and Gothic buildings. Regensburg's 11th - 13th -century
architecture - including the market, City Hall and Cathedral, still defines
the character of the town marked by tall buildings, dark, narrow lanes, and
strong fortifications. The buildings include medieval Patrician houses and
towers, a large number of churches and monastic ensembles as well as the Old
Bridge, which dates from the 12th century. The town is also remarkable for
the vestiges that testify to its rich institutional and religious history as
one of the centres of the Holy Roman Empire that turned to Protestantism.

Situee sur le Danube, cette cite medievale
de Baviere offre de nombreux batiments d'une qualite exceptionnelle qui
temoignent de son passe de centre marchand et de son influence dans la region
des le IXe siecle. Elle a conserve une quantite notable de structures
historiques couvrant deux millenaires, dont la periode de la Rome antique
ainsi que des edifices romans et gothiques. L'architecture des XI-XIIIe
siecles - le Marche, l'Hotel de ville, la Cathedrale - confere a Ratisbonne
un caractere particulier : hauts edifices, ruelles etroites et sombres, murs
d'enceinte tres epais. Parmi les batiments , on trouve des tours
patriciennes, un grand nombre d'eglises et d'ensembles monastiques, le Pont
de pierre, qui datent du XIIe siecle. La ville est aussi remarquable pour ses
vestiges qui temoignent de sa riche histoire institutionnelle et religieuse
en tant qu'un des centres du Saint Empire romain germanique qui bascula vers
le Protestantisme.

Situada
en Baviera, a orillas del Danubio, esta ciudad medieval contiene numerosos

comercial de gran influencia en la region. Ratisbona ha preservado numerosas
estructuras historicas que cubren dos milenios: desde la Roma antigua hasta
edificios romanicos y goticos. Sus construcciones de los siglos XI a XIII (el
mercado, el ayuntamiento, la catedral) confieren a Ratisbona un caracter particular:
edificios altos, calles estrechas y oscuras, murallas muy anchas. Entre los
edificios hay tambien torres patricias, un gran numero de iglesias y
conjuntos monasticos, y el puente de piedra, que datan del siglo XII. La
ciudad es tambien famosa por vestigios que dan cuenta de su rica historia
institucional y religiosa como uno de los centros del Sacro Imperio Romano
Germanico que dio lugar al protestantismo.

Diese an der Donau liegende
mittelalterliche bayerische Stadt enthalt viele Gebaude ausserordentlichen
Werts, die ihre Vergangenheit as Handelsstadt und ihren Einfluss in der
Gegend von dem 9ten Jahrhundert ab zeigen. Sie hat eine bemerkenswerte Menge
von historischen Denkmalern behalten, die zwei Jahrtausende Geschichte
zeigen, unter denen einige aus der romischen Zeit, sowie romanische und
gotike Gebaude. Die Architektur zwischen den 11ten und 13ten Jahrhunderten,
der Marktplatz, das Rathaus, der Dom, geben Regensburg besondere Kennzeichen:
hohe Gebaude, dunkele und schmalle Strassen, sehr dichte Umwallungen. Unter
den Denkmalern befindet man aristokratische Turme, viele Kirchen und Kloster,
die Steinerne Brucke aus dem 12ten Jahrhundert. Die Stadt ist auch fur ihre
Uberreste bemerkenswert, die ihre lange politische und religiose Geschichte
als ein Zentrum in dem heiligen romischen germanischen Kaisertum zeigen, die
nach Protestantismus schwang. |
