Croatia - Historic City of Trogir

Trogir is a remarkable example of urban continuity. The orthogonal street pattern of this island settlement dates back to the Hellenistic period, and it has been embellished by successive rulers with many fine public and domestic buildings and fortifications. Its fine Romanesque churches are complemented by the outstanding Renaissance and Baroque buildings from the Venetian period.

Trogir constituye un notable ejemplo de continuidad urbanistica. La planificacion cuadriculada de las calles de la ciudad antigua de este establecimiento insular se remonta al periodo helenistico. La villa fue embellecida a lo largo de las sucesivas dominaciones con numerosos edificios publicos y privados y tambien con fortificaciones. A sus bellas iglesias romanicas se anaden importantes edificios del Renacimiento y del barroco de la epoca veneciana.

Der gewurfelte Plan der Strassen dieser antiken Stadt, die auf einer Insel gegrundet wurde, datiert von der hellenistischen Epoche und wurde in den aufeinanderfolgenden Beherrschungen mit zahlreichen offentlichen, privaten Bauwerken und Befestigungen verschonert. Dazu zu ihren schonen romanischen Kirchen kommen bemerkenswerte Barock- und Renaissancebauwerke aus der venezianischen Epoche hinzu.
