Spain- Aranjuez Cultural Landscape

The Aranjuez cultural landscape is an entity of complex relationships: between nature and human activity, between sinuous watercourses and geometric landscape design, between the rural and the urban, between forests and the delicately modulated architecture of its palatial buildings. Three hundred years of royal attention to the development and care of this landscape have seen it express an evolution of concepts from humanism and political centralization, to characteristics such as those found in its eighteenth-century French-style Baroque garden, to the urban lifestyle which developed alongside the sciences of plant acclimatization and stock-breeding during the Age of Enlightenment.

Pendant trois cent ans, la famille royale s'est attachee a developper et a entretenir ce paysage qui a reussi a integrer les caracteristiques du jardin baroque de style francais du XVIIIe siecle mais aussi celles d'un mode de vie urbain allant de pair avec la pratique scientifique de l'acclimatation botanique et de l'elevage au siecle des Lumieres. L'apparition de concepts tels que l'humanisme et la centralisation politique ont egalement influence a leur facon ce paysage.

Con sus sinuosas vias de agua contrapuestas a las lineas rectas de su paisaje geometrico, rural y urbano, sus paseos arbolados y la arquitectura delicadamente modulada de sus edificios palaciales, el paisaje cultural de Aranjuez, testimonia las complejas relaciones que se tejen entre al hombre y la naturaleza. Durante trescientos anos, la familia real se dedico a desarrollar y cuidar este paisaje logrando integrar las caracteristicas del jardin barroco de estilo frances del siglo XVIII, pero tambien las proprias de un modo de vida urbano que caminaban en paralelo con la practica cientifica de la aclimatacion botanica y la cria de ganado durante el siglo de las Luces.

Dank ihren kurvigen Wasserstrassen, die gegen die geraden Linien einer geometrischen landlichen und stadtischen Landschaft einen Kontrast bilden, ihren Baumlandschaften und der kostlich modulierten Architektur ihrer Palaste zeigt die Kulturlandschaft von Aranjuez die komplizierten Beziehungen zwischen dem Menschen und der Natur. Dreihundert Jahre lang hat sich die konigliche Familie bemuht, diese Landschaft zu entwickeln und pflegen. Die Landschaft von Aranjuez konnte die Kennzeichen des barocken Gartens franzosischen Stils im 18ten Jahrhundert integrieren sowie diejenigen eines stadtichen Lebensstils, die sich im Jahrhundert der Aufklarung mit dem wissenschaftlichen Verfahren der botanischen Akklimatisierung und der Zuchtung gleichzeitig entwickelten. Das Erscheinen solcher Konzepte wie Humanismus und politische Zentralisierung hat auch nach seiner Art diese Landschaft beeinflusst.
